Introducing the Team: Bärchen
Hi, I´m Bärchen and Bauer brought me to this team.
He helped me with my first level by coaching me, showing me mistakes and giving me hints via Teamspeak. In the following time I did some work on my own and I got better - good enough to become a part of the team in August of 2006.

I am interested in medieval times since my early childhood - I just loved castles, swords and stuff. So I am very glad to be able to work on this mod. I put most effort in hg_forst, furthermore hg_kirche was my idea but Bauer finally did the most of it. Right now I am working on some eyecandy for the other level designers since I don´t have the time for an own map.

My desk (see sources for a photo) doesn´t only sustain paper in heaps and a creative mess but also my computer which is an Intel Core 2 Quad with 3Gigs of Ram and a Geforce 8600gt. This computer tempted me to use too much CPU-eating eyecandy which was then removed by Bauer on his old Athlon: "We don´t want to have a second Crysis where you need a new PC to play it."

Introducing the Team: Bauer
Hi, we thought that it may be interesting for you to know who we are, how we came to this modification and the way we work. So we will now have a series of introductions.

I am Bauer. When you are reading the news regularly you will have realized that I more or less lead the team. I do not decide on my own but I am quite actively talking about everything and so I got this informal position. My formal job is level design. This is the reason why I was invited back in 2005 as well. I did a map for Counter-Strike Source (de_middleages) that attracted CPoly´s and Yacc´s attention and so they asked me to join them. I am now a member of the team since early 2006 and, well, the ideas we had in the beginning changed quite a lot until now. But this is another story.
Today I am working hg_kirche most of the time. And I spend some time on learning blender. I do that because models are very important for level design and blender runs on my favorite OS (which is Linux). This attention towards Linux is also the reason why I always work with two Computers at one time. One running Windows for Valve Hammer Editor and one running Linux for everything else. (Even for playing MedBat! I just can´t get Hammer working with Linux.)
PS: I took a photo with my mobile phone´s camera, so that you can have a look at my desk. (See Sources.)

EP2-Engine, need 3D Artist
Wow, it has been quite a long time since my last news. My apologizes, we were quite busy - some of us in their private live, some of us with technical things concerning the mod but not (almost) everything works well again.
You may be interested in the things that happened since May (What a long time, I cannot believe it!) Here are the facts:

1. Kyle switched MedBat to the new Engine that came with the Orange Box. Do not worry, everything you need to play our mod is a single license for any Source Game on Steam that allows you to use Source SDK Base, this license includes one for the newer version. In fact we needed Orange Box installed in the first days after the switch but this problem has been solved.
2. I reached the limit of displacements (I do landscapes with them.) in hg_klamm. This limit set in the Source Engine prevents the map from being compiled. So I have to rework some parts of the map.
3. Being bored of reworking I pushed hg_kirche. Screenshots will follow but by now the map is made of dev-Textures. I hope that there are some guys out there willing to run through a very basic level to test how it plays.
4. We started searching a new 3D artist who can help us with player animation. There cannot be a release without proper models and there will be one not that long after we have some. (This is a job ad.)

New Ingame Screenshots
We would like to show you some new spots of hg_klamm.

The first one shows a small castle that maybe will be an alternative spawn that can be captured by the teams. The second and the third one show the same part of the map. So do not worry klamm will not be another forest. At the fourth picture there is some driftwood in a canyon.
